Flick Hosts Hearing, Events Highlighting Human Services

WHAT: Rep. Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming Union) is hosting a series of legislative and community events designed to inform the public and connect people with services, programs and support they need to live healthy, productive and fulfilling lives. Events include a House Republican Policy Committee hearing titled “Addressing the Mental Health Needs of Pennsylvania’s Rural Communities”; a speaker series with an audience question-and-answer session; and a human services expo.

WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 7, beginning at 10 a.m.

WHERE: The Pennsylvania College of Technology, 1 College Ave., Williamsport.


The schedule of events is as follows:

10 a.m. – House Republican Policy Committee Hearing: “Addressing the Mental Health Needs of Pennsylvania’s Rural Communities” at Mountain Laurel Room.

This hearing is open to the public and features the following panelists providing testimony: Keith Wagner, executive director, Lycoming-Clinton Joinder Board; Sherry Shaffer, COO and government programs officer of Community Care Behavioral Health (CCBH); Ryan Gardner, Lycoming County District Attorney; and Dr. Eric Briggs, superintendent, South Williamsport Area School District.

1-3 p.m. – Speaker series with audience Q&A at Presentation Room in Gilmour Center.

1 p.m. – Flick, opening remarks and citation presentation to UPMC Pediatric Rehabilitation Center honoring 100 years of service.
1:15 p.m. – Kelly Gordon and Michaela Detrick, Northcentral PA Chapter of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
1:40 p.m. – Taylor Falk, West Branch Drug and Alcohol Abuse Commission.
2:05 p.m. – Karen Koch and Ann Cline, Roads to Freedom Center for Independent Living.
2:30 p.m. – Rob Labatch, Hope Enterprises.

3-6 p.m. - Human Services Expo at the Field House

More than 60 human services agencies and providers have registered to participate in the expo.
