WILLIAMSPORT – State Rep. Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming/Union) announced Montgomery Borough has received nearly $1 million in grant funding to upgrade its aging water line infrastructure, benefiting 800 customers in the area. The funding, awarded through the Local Share Account (LSA) Statewide program, will provide essential support for this much-needed infrastructure improvement, helping to enhance the borough’s water system.

The Local Share Account (LSA) Statewide program is designed to assist projects across Pennsylvania that promote community, economic development and school improvement. The existing water lines in Montgomery Borough were so outdated that in certain parts of the community, there was insufficient water pressure, which posed a challenge for the fire department’s ability to fight fires effectively.

“I’m proud to have been an advocate for Montgomery Borough and to ensure they received this vital funding,” said Flick. “This investment will not only improve the safety and well-being of residents but also strengthen the borough’s infrastructure, making it a better place to live and work.”

This grant funding will address these critical issues and ensure that residents and emergency responders have access to reliable water service. With no state funding received in many years, this is a crucial investment for Montgomery Borough's future.

“When the grant money was awarded, I was thrilled that my hometown could be awarded this wonderful amount,” said Donna Miller from the Montgomery Water Authority. “This grant money will help with the replacement of a large part of Wagner Avenue and Broad Street. More grants are being applied for the completion of the project. This improvement will help Montgomery to 'Grow Towards Tomorrow.' I appreciate Rep. Flick for his constant support.”

The improvements to the water system are expected to boost fire safety, enhance water quality and support the continued growth of Montgomery Borough. This project is an important step in modernizing the borough’s infrastructure and meeting the needs of its community.
