Flick Announces State Funding to Improve Traffic Safety in Williamsport
January 6, 2026
LYCOMING COUNTY – Citing the need to improve traffic flow and enhance public safety at a key intersection in Williamsport, Rep. Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming/Union) today announced the City of Williamsport has been awarded nearly $406,000 in state funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Multimodal Transportation Fund.
The funding will be used to modernize the traffic signal at the intersection of High and Campbell streets, helping to improve safety and mobility for motorists, pedestrians and nearby businesses.
“Keeping our transportation infrastructure safe and up to date is essential for protecting the traveling public and supporting economic activity in our communities,” said Flick. “This investment will help address traffic concerns at a busy intersection and ensure Williamsport residents and visitors can move through the area more safely and efficiently.”
“I want to thank Gov. Josh Shapiro, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Rep. Flick and Sen Gene Yaw for their strong support in securing this $406,000 grant,” Williamsport Mayor Derek Slaughter said. “This important investment will allow us to modernize our traffic signals, improve safety and mobility for residents and pedestrians, and better support the businesses that rely on safe and efficient transportation every day.”
The funding comes from the Multimodal Transportation Fund administered by PennDOT. The program is intended to provide financial assistance to municipalities, councils of governments, businesses, economic development organizations, public transportation agencies, and ports and rail freight entities to improve transportation assets that enhance communities, pedestrian safety, and transit revitalization.
