Flick's Fourth Annual Speaker Series to Focus on Opioid Addiction, Recovery and Progress
March 27, 2026
WILLIAMSPORT – Rep. Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming/Union) today announced the return of his annual Speaker Series, which is now in its fourth year, in coordination with his Human Services Expo on Thursday, April 23, from 1-3 p.m. at Penn’s Inn at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
The topic of this year’s series is Opioid Addiction: Loss, Recovery and Hope.
“Opioids have affected nearly everyone in some way,” Flick said. “Whether you, a friend, a son or daughter, spouse or relative have struggled with addiction, or sadly lost a friend or loved one, you will find something to connect with.”
The discussion will start with House Human Services committee chairs, Rep. Dan Williams (D-Chester) and Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon). The chairmen will provide an update on the committee and legislation being worked on at the Capitol.
“As a member of the Human Services Committee, I’m honored Rep. Williams and Rep. Heffley will share their perspectives on this critical issue and provide updates from Harrisburg.”
A panel of four individuals whose lives have been forever altered by opioids will share their stories, including Carolyn Miele, founder of Saving Lives for Zachary; Marc Lovecchio, an attorney and former Lycoming County judge; Kevin McNamara, father who lost his son to overdose; and Kydreece Burks, alumni of Williamsport Area High School and current senior at Penn State University.
“The stories reveal the tragic consequences of opioids, and serve as part cautionary tale, part resilience and part hope for an addiction-free future,” Flick said.
Flick will close the Speaker Series with updated information about the Pennsylvania Opioid Misuse and Addiction Abatement Trust, and the strides the Commonwealth, and the area, are making against the epidemic of opioid addiction.
The Speaker Series is free to the public.
Immediately following the Speaker Series, the Human Services Expo will take place at the Field House on the Pennsylvania College of Technology campus from 3-6 p.m. The Expo is also free and open to the public and will offer valuable information and resources for the community from more than 70 agencies, businesses and nonprofits.
