Flick’s Human Services Expo, Speaker Series Set for Thursday, April 23

WHAT: Rep. Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming/Union) is hosting two events that offer residents meaningful opportunities to connect with services and hear from leaders addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing the region.

Now in its fourth year, Flick’s Human Services Expo and Speaker Series are free events held in coordination with each other

The topic of this year’s Speaker Series is Opioid Addiction: Loss, Recovery and Hope. It features a powerful lineup of speakers who will cover the opioid crisis, share survivors' stories, and update everyone on what representatives are doing to combat the opioid and drug crisis in the Commonwealth.

The Human Services Expo brings together nearly 70 agencies, all in one place where members of the community can navigate life's challenges.

WHO: The Speaker Series will feature: Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon), Republican chair of the House Human Services Committee; Rep. Dan Williams (D-Chester), Democratic chair of the House Human Services Committee; Carolyn Miele, founder of Saving Lives for Zachary; Marc Lovecchio, an attorney and former Lycoming County judge; Kevin McNamara, father who lost his son to an overdose; Kydreece Burks, alumni of Williamsport Area High School and current senior at Penn State University; and Shea Madden, West Branch Drug and Alcohol.

The Human Services Expo features services for aging, autism, behavioral health, career development, children and adolescents, diverse abilities (physical and intellectual), early intervention, housing and transportation, independent living, medical assistance, mental health, parenting and custody, substance abuse, veterans’ services, and more.

WHEN: Both events will take place on Thursday, April 23. The Speaker Series will take place from 1-3 p.m. The Human Services Expo will take place from 3-6 p.m.

WHERE: Both events take place at the Pennsylvania College of Technology. The Speaker Series will take place at Penn’s Inn in the Bush Student Center. The Human Services Expo will take place at the Field House.
